Eldon FFA Facts
Agriculture education was introduced in Eldon High School in 1931. The instructor was R.E. Singleton, who taught for two years, from 1931 to 1933. The agriculture program gained recognition under the guidance of J.R. Thompson, who chartered the Eldon FFA Chapter in 1939. E.C. Greenway served as ag teacher and FFA advisor from 1951 to 1982, and during his tenure, Gordon Nickels became the first Eldon FFA member to earn an American Farmer Degree in 1966. Throughout the 1980s, the agricultural/FFA program saw continued growth and became a multiple teacher department. As the program continued to grow, a third teacher was added in 1997. The chapter's parliamentary procedure career development event team won the national championship in 2010. The Eldon FFA
Chapter has enjoyed many successes on the local, state and national levels while continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of Eldon FFA members.
