Greenhand Conference
On January 3rd, 2017 the Eldon FFA Chapter took 33 students to a Greenhand Motivational Conference at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Eighteen conferences were held at thirteen different locations throughout Missouri. Through interactive workshops and skits, the State FFA Officers encouraged first year FFA members to explore their talents and reach outside their comfort zone for the opportunities provided through FFA membership. Students had the opportunity to learn about being positive role models, getting involved, making sound choices, becoming active team members and making a positive difference in their lives, school and community.
Barnwarming
The annual FFA Barnwarming took place on Friday, November 11 from 7 pm to 10 pm. Eighty five students were in attendance. For admission to the dance students donated three cans of food for the Eldon Food Pantry. The candidates this year were seniors Christian Potucek, Ryan Finnegan, Hannah Ruark, Gracie Blankenship, juniors Cole Kliehtermes, Devin Degraffenreid, Chloe Wilson, Leah Stichler, sophomores Mariah Wardenburg, Chase Fitzpatrick, and freshmen Trinity Crouch and Darin Porter. Seniors Gracie Blankenship and Ryan Finnegan won queen and king. The candidates played games to earn points towards the throne. The games were “The Newlywed Game”, pumpkin bowling, and “Pin the Emblem”. All of the students got the chance to play tug of war as a class and seniors won. Students were able to learn new dances such as swing dancing and different line dances. This evening was great for students to open up and have some fun this school year!
Thank you for supporting the FFA Hog Roast and Work Auction!
Another extremely successful Eldon FFA Hog Roast is in the books! At this year’s Hog Roast, more people were served than have been in years, with our grand total of meals being sold at approximately 1,200. Along with our dinner, we had 40 students be sold in the work auction. The Eldon FFA chapter would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came out to help make this year’s Hog Roast so successful. Whether you purchased a mum, an alumni t-shirt, ate a meal, or bought a member your contribution to our chapter’s future is greatly appreciated!
Mum Sales
The FFA Greenhouse is selling Mums. We have just a few white, orange, and purple available but have plenty of maroon and gold still for sale. The cost is $9 for 1 or $40 for 5. The greenhouse is open throughout the day and will be open Tuesday and Thursday evening until 5:00. Thanks again for all of your support.
